ABOUT US: 

Caloosa Homeschoolers Private School (CHPS) is an unaccredited, Florida-based, private / umbrella school for homeschoolers.  We offer a legal covering for homeschool families who do not wish to register with their county's Home Education Department nor put their students into a public school system.

OUR REQUIREMENTS: 

Our registration requirements are simple - birth certificate for each student that you are enrolling, a copy of their physical dated no more than (1) year from the date of registration, and their immunization records.  If, for religious reasons, you do not have your student immunized or seen by a doctor for physicals, you may submit a letter to us stating so and it will be accepted. 

Our enrollment requirements are also minimal - attendance must be submitted quarterly for each student. 

WHAT WE DON'T DO: 

We do NOT maintain any other records for your students, such as grades, transcripts, or copies of their work.  We do NOT provide recordkeeping services, transcripts, curriculum, activities, or classes.  We do NOT require portfolios, yearly testing or evaluations.   

WHAT WE DO: 

We DO provide diplomas and access to the Bright Futures Scholarships, Florida Virtual School and Edison College because we are a legally registered private school with the Florida Department of Education.  Our school number is #4852 and we are located in LEE COUNTY.

ABOUT YOUR STUDENT: 

Under CHPS, your student is considered a private school student, NOT a homeschooler.  Private schools are allowed to set their own requirements, by law.  The State of Florida requires 180 days of attendance for all students in a public or private school.  Therefore, your students MUST complete 180 days of school per year and you MUST send this in to us quarterly throughout the year.  The dates are listed below under "UPDATES" and can also be found on the Lee County School Board website calendar, as this is the yearly calendar that we follow as well.

HOW TO REGISTER WITH CHPS: 

To register your student with CHPS, simply email us with your intentions and we will let you know what to do next.  If you are registered with the County Home Education Department, you will need to submit a letter to them as well.  We will let you know what you need to state in that letter.  If your student is in another public or private school, you will need to fill out a records transfer form.  Again, this will all be covered in our response to your email inquiry.
